David attended medical school at the Universidad de Carabobo Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud and continued his training as a resident at the University of Illinois, Chicago. He his studying the effects of enhanced perinatal nutrition in ELBW premature infants on body composition and its relation to neuro-developmental outcomes, as well as its effects on IGF-1.

Julie completed medical school at the University of Minnesota and completed her pediatric residency at the University of California, San Diego. She is investigating what values parents of extremely premature infants are using to help guide their decision-making with respect to the care of their infants. She hopes that this insight will allow more directed counseling and improved communication between providers and families, to maximize collaborative partnership. She is also pursuing a Pediatric Bioethics Certificate this academic year, which will help guide her research.
