The Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine is committed to advancing the state of pediatric urgent and emergent care through rigorous scientific clinical research.

We accomplish the following objectives to meet this goal:

  • Practice and promote the International Conference on Harmonization (ICH) Good clinical practice (GCP) guidelines for designing, conducting, recording and reporting clinical trials to protect the rights, safety, and wellbeing of human subjects.
  • Develop a research infrastructure to support high quality clinical research and foster collaboration between academic and treatment communities.
  • Develop a research agenda to assist in strategic planning, consensus, and prioritization of high priority, relevant, and generalizable research projects.
  • Create a method to develop well-conceived and carefully designed observational studies and interventional clinical trials.
  • Develop a plan to disseminate research findings and scientific based evidence to practitioners, health systems leaders, policy makers, communities, and other stakeholders.
  • Utilize quantitative and qualitative evidence based research to drive best practice, translating clinical research into practice.
  • Mentor new investigators, fellows, residents, and medical students in developing and conducting research projects.
