ADOS-2 Introductory Training

ADOS-2 Introductory Training

April 24-25, 2019

Registration Fee: $475.00

Prerequisites: Bachelor’s degree or higher and relevant work experience and current occupational role. Trainees will be notified if it is determined that these prerequisites are not met.

Description: The University of Minnesota’s Center for Neurobehavioral Development is offering a 2-day Introductory Training on the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, Second Edition (ADOS-2). This is an introductory workshop with instructional methods that include lectures, videos, demonstrations of administration and scoring, and discussions. This workshop is designed for researchers and clinicians with prior background in autism spectrum disorder and formal testing, such as speech-language pathologists, physicians, psychologists, school-based autism specialists, and occupational therapists. This training is necessary for anyone planning to use the ADOS-2 in clinical or school settings and serves as a pre-requisite for more thorough training required to obtain research reliability in order to use the ADOS-2 for research purposes. The goals of this workshop are to provide a detailed overview of the ADOS-2, its development, its psychometric properties, and appropriate use and interpretation. Trainees will be provided with DVDs of other ADOS-2 administrations to watch after the training to supplement the workshop.

ADOS-2 Toddler Module Introductory Training

Registration Fee: $300

Prerequisites: Prior training in modules 1 - 4 of the ADOS / ADOS-2 (e.g. attendance at an ADOS or ADOS-2 Introductory and/or Research Workshop).

Description: The University of Minnesota’s Center for Neurobehavioral Development is offering an introductory workshop specific to the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule-2nd Ed. (ADOS-2) Toddler Module with instructional methods that include lectures, videos, practice with scoring, and discussions. This workshop is designed for researchers and clinicians with prior background in autism spectrum disorder and formal testing, such as speech‐language pathologists, physicians, psychologists, special education ASD specialists, and occupational therapists. This workshop serves as a pre-requisite for more thorough training required to obtain research reliability needed to use the Toddler ADOS-2 for research purposes. All trainees are expected to have prior training in modules 1-4 of the ADOS / ADOS-2.

Prerequisites: Completion of the ADOS or ADOS-2 Introductory Training (Modules 1-4)

Description: This training designed for individuals who have already completed the ADOS or ADOS-2 Introductory Training (Modules 1-4) and who are interested in further practice and review. During this one-day training, two full length videotaped ADOS-2 administrations will be viewed and the scoring of these administrations will be discussed. There will also be an opportunity to review specific administration and scoring questions from participants.

ADOS-2 Research Training

ADOS-2 Research Training

Registration Fee: $2000

Prerequisites:  Bachelor’s degree or higher and completion of in-person ADOS-2 Introductory Training Workshop. Trainees will be notified if it is determined that these prerequisites are not met.

Description: The University of Minnesota is offering an ADOS-2 Research Training for specialists in ASD interested in establishing research reliability. This training course offers detailed, advanced training for people who plan to use the ADOS-2 for research purposes. This training is necessary for use of the ADOS-2 in research. The goals of this workshop are to provide hands-on experience in administering the ADOS-2, detailed instruction and practice with coding, and information on appropriate use and interpretation in research. With guidance from an experienced ADOS-2 trainer, trainees will administer parts of the ADOS- 2 to child and adult volunteers with ASD. Detailed discussions on scoring of the ADOS-2 follow each practice administration. Trainees will be provided with videos of other ADOS-2 administrations to watch after the training and will be given instructions on next steps for achieving research reliability.

Training fee includes scoring and feedback on your first round of post-course reliability checks if you submit them within 6 months of the workshop.

Prerequisites: Bachelor’s degree or higher and relevant work experience and current occupational role.

The University of Minnesota Autism Diagnostics Training Program is offering a one-day introductory training on the Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised (ADI-R). This training provides an overview and practice with the ADI-R and is appropriate for those who conduct diagnostic and educational evaluations for autism. The ADI-R is a comprehensive parent interview that provides an assessment of individuals suspected of having autism spectrum disorder. It is a well-researched measure with strong psychometric properties.

The ADI-R Introductory training includes lectures, videos, demonstrations of administration and scoring, and discussions. This workshop is designed for clinicians and educators with prior background in autism spectrum disorder and formal testing, including diagnostic and/or developmental history interviews, such as physicians, psychologists, special education ASD specialists, and social workers.

Required Materials: It is recommended that trainees bring an ADI-R manual to the workshop. You can purchase manuals online through WPS at www.wpspublish.com.

ADOS-2 Advanced Introductory Training

Friday, April 26

Registration Fee: $350.00

Prerequisites: Completion of ADOS-2 Introductory Training. Bachelor’s degree or higher and relevant work experience and current occupational role. Trainees will be notified if it is determined that these prerequisites are not met.

Description: This 1-day training expands upon the 2-day Introductory training by providing hands-on experience with administration of the ADOS-2 and discussion of interpreting findings, incorporating results into reports, and communicating results to families. Trainees will have the opportunity to practice giving the ADOS-2 to typically developing volunteers. This training is intended for people who have completed the 2-day Introductory training and plan to use the ADOS-2 within their practice within the next 6 months. This training is not equivalent to Research training. The 2-day ADOS-2 Introductory Training is a prerequisite for this training.
