Cindy Howard, MD, MPHTM, is a Professor of Pediatrics and the Director of the Global Pediatric Program at the University of Minnesota.
Dr. Howard received her MD degree at the University of North Carolina, completed her pediatric residency at the University of Alabama Children's Hospital and her pediatric infectious disease fellowship and MPH in tropical medicine at Tulane University. Prior to coming to the University of Minnesota Dr. Howard practiced in Germany, Nigeria, Uganda, and the inner city of Baltimore. She created an educational exchange program between the departments of pediatrics at the University of Maryland and Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda.
Her areas of interest include developing and measuring the effectiveness of global health curriculum; training/mentoring young men and women to address global child health challenges and the medical care of immigrant and refugee children. Dr. Howard has two children Christine and Loice, who were born in the Democratic Republic of Congo. She enjoys time with her family, hiking, gardening, and reading.
Dr. Howard has received multiple awards including the The Drs. Anvar and Pari Velji Award for excellence in global health education from the Consortium of Universities in Global Health; the American Academy of Pediatrics' Education award and the Hillman-Olness Award for Lifetime Service and Lasting Contributions to Global Child Health; and the Golden Apple Award from Health Volunteers Overseas.

Abraham Jacob, MD, MHA, joined the Department of Pediatrics in 2005 to start and direct the Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine. The Division has grown substantially since 2005 and has become the largest service for admissions at M Health Fairview Masonic Children's Hospital (UMMCH). The program currently provides inpatient pediatric services at UMMCH, Fairview Ridges Hospital, Maple Grove Hospital, and Shriners. Dr. Jacob served as Chief Medical Officer for UMMCH from 2012-2019 with a focus on patient safety, quality, and patient experience. He is now the Chief Quality Officer for MHealth Fairview and a a staff attending on the General Pediatrics service at UMMCH and on the Internal Medicine service at UMMC.
A graduate of the University of Notre Dame, Dr. Jacob went on to medical school at the University of Toledo College of Medicine where he graduated in 1994. He went on to complete his Internal Medicine/ Pediatrics residency at the University of Minnesota in 1998. After completing residency, he helped to start the first combined Internal Medicine/ Pediatrics practice in the Twin Cities with five of his residency classmates and served as medical director of the clinic. Since coming to the University of MN as faculty, Dr. Jacob's main interests have included resident education, family centered care, quality improvement, and patient safety. He helped to lead an initiative at UMMCH that recently won the MN Hospital Association 2015 Patient Safety Improvement Award. He is board certified in Pediatrics and Internal Medicine.

Dr. Krohn is an internal medicine and pediatric hospitalist and Associate Professor at the University of Minnesota. She completed medical school and residency here in internal medicine and pediatrics. She completed the Stanford University - NBC News Fellowship in Global Health and Media in 2013 and spent two years working with Health Frontiers in Laos, teaching in the country's internal medicine and pediatric residency programs. Dr. Krohn believes everyone should be equipped with the tools they need to understand their health and to make healthy choices. As the Director of Online Content for our Global Medicine Program, Dr. Krohn works to ensure that providers know how to care for people from diverse backgrounds including underrepresented minorities, immigrants, and refugees right here in Minnesota. Dr. Lee finished her Internal Medicine and Pediatrics residency at the University of Minnesota and is excited to serve as one of the global health chief residents this year, 2021-2022. She became interested in health inequities and the intersections between health, education, and policy after opportunities to volunteer at Chicago public schools during college which led to a year of AmeriCorps service in Houston, TX. This led to her MPH training which helped her develop skills and interest in epidemiology and public health data analysis. During residency, the global health community at the University of Minnesota brought many opportunities to learn more about global health and working with refugee populations present in the Twin Cities. Dr. Maalouli is a native of Beirut, Lebanon who graduated from McGill University in Montreal, Canada with a bachelor's degree in Neurobiology. He went on to study medicine at the American University of Beirut then completed his pediatric residency at the Mount Sinai – St. Lukes Medical Center in Manhattan, New York.
Post residency, he practiced pediatric primary care in Illinois and New York then joined PACE Pediatrics in St. Paul, Minnesota in 2000 where he established one of the first electronic medical records system for primary care practices in the Twin Cities and introduced the first automated prescription dispensing system in Minnesota in private practice.
In 2008, he took on the responsibility of establishing the pediatric hospitalist program at Children's of Minnesota and successfully led it until 2012. He pioneered the use of scribes in the inpatient setting and developed a hospitalist run food allergy testing program in close cooperation with community allergists. Subsequently, he assumed the role of Chief Medical Officer at La Rabida Children's Hospital in Chicago, Illinois in 2012. During his tenure there, he actively led multiple quality and safety improvement initiatives, expanded the hospital referral network and re-organized the medical staff leadership and review process.
Dr. Maalouli rejoined his family back in Minnesota in 2014 and resumed his work in pediatric hospital medicine at the Mayo Clinic Health System before finally embarking on an academic career at the University of Minnesota as an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and pediatric hospitalist in 2016 where he is currently engaging in clinical research and teaching. He remains active in systems improvement as a member of the University of Minnesota Physicians Compliance and Risk Management committee and the Fairview Ridges Hospital Quality Improvement committee.

Dr. Andrew Olson is an Associate Professor of Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of Minnesota Medical School, where he practices hospital medicine and pediatrics. He serves as the founding Director of the Division of Hospital Medicine within the Department of Medicine. His clinical interests focus on innovation in hospital medicine, care of complex inpatients, bedside procedures, and multispecialty collaboration.
Dr. Olson's academic work focuses on two major areas: the nature and development of clinical reasoning as well as methods to measure and decrease diagnostic error and has been a leader of multiple national and international projects to improve clinical reasoning education. Dr. Olson presently serves as the Director of Medical Education Research and Innovation in the Medical Education Outcomes Center, focusing on linking education with clinical and workforce outcomes as well using EHR metadata to characterize clinical care, teamwork, and the clinical learning environment.

Maren Olson, MD, MPH, MEd is a graduate of the University of Minnesota Medical School and did her residency in pediatrics at Seattle Children's. Her clinical work is as a pediatric hospitalist. Dr. Olson co-directs the Center for the Art of Medicine in the Medical School. She also serves as an Associate Program Director for the Pediatric Residency and as a Faculty Advisor in the Medical School. Dr. Olson is passionate about mentoring learners, exploring the intersection between art and medicine, and caring for hospitalized kids and their families. Dr. Paranjpe graduated medical school in 2017 from Wayne State University School of Medicine. He went on to complete his residency in pediatrics at Western Michigan University in 2021.

Dr. Pitt is a graduate from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in pediatrics at Northwestern University's Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago. Dr. Pitt believes that a good pediatrician must be a good educator and enjoys equipping medical students and residents with tools that improve bedside teaching, patient rapport, and parent's understanding of complex diseases in their children. He is an Associate Program Director for the University of Minnesota Pediatric Residency. Hope Pogemiller, MD, MPH, CTropMed ® is an internal medicine/pediatrics hospitalist, - Assistant Professor, - and Global Health Faculty in the University of Minnesota Department of Medicine. She served as a public health volunteer in Benin (West Africa) and has continued her interest in cross-cultural healthcare in Minneapolis and abroad. She worked with St. Damien's Pediatric Hospital in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and the International Organization for Migration in Kampala, Uganda. Her work with refugees at the Center for International Health (as a resident) and with the IOM in Uganda led to the creation of an online medical interpreter training module for refugee settings. She worked with the Selian Hospital and Arusha Lutheran Medical Center in Arusha, Tanzania as a Global Health Chief Resident, and she served as an In-Country Clinical Lead for the trial, A Multicenter Randomized Safety and Efficacy Study of Putative Investigational Therapeutics in the Treatment of Patients with Known Ebola Infection, in Sierra Leone. Currently, she leads the inpatient portion of the BRIIDGE program (Bridge to Residency for Immigrant International Doctor Graduates through clinical Experience). With the Center of Excellence in Refugee Health, she is collaborating to update and expand CDC's screening guidelines for newly arrived refugees.

Dr. Russell was born and raised in North Carolina, where much of her family still lives. She completed a double major at Oberlin College in Chemistry and Religion, with a focus on Ethics. After college she returned to North Carolina to complete medical school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She completed her internship and residency in Pediatrics at the University of Minnesota, and joined the department of Pediatric Hospital Medicine in 2013. She works as a Pediatric Hospitalist at the M Health Fairview Masonic Children's Hospital and at Maple Grove Hospital, where she is the currently the vice-chair of the Pediatric Department for the year 2016. Nimi Singh, MD, MPH, is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and Director of the Adolescent Medicine Fellowship in the Division of Adolescent Health and Medicine at the University of Minnesota. She received her undergraduate degree at Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania and her medical degree at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City. In conjunction with her residency in Pediatrics and International Child Health at Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital in Cleveland Ohio, she pursued a Masters in Medical Anthropology at Case Western Reserve University, and a Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars Fellowship at the University of Washington in Seattle, where she also received a Masters in Public Health. She then completed her training with a fellowship in Adolescent Medicine at the University of Washington. During her career she has also pursued further training in lifestyle and integrative medicine, honing her expertise in counseling teens on optimizing their health and wellbeing. Dr. Singh is currently pursuing the Clinical Scholars academic track. Her clinical and research interests have focused on disenfranchised youth including homeless and incarcerated youth, and on the mental health needs of youth in varying socioeconomic and cultural contexts. Currently she is focused on exploring, teaching, and evaluating means by which to promote mental health and resilience in youth, as well as in medical students, residents, and medical faculty. In June 2003 and 2007, she was the recipient of the Outstanding Faculty Educator Award by the Dept. of Pediatrics at the University of Minnesota School of Medicine.

Dr. Sundberg is an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of Minnesota. He completed additional training through the Brigham and Women's Hiatt Global Health Equity Residency, and received a Master of Public Health degree from the Harvard School of Public Health. Summary
Dr. Trappey graduated from medical school at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in 2008 and completed his residency training in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of Minnesota in 2012. He is currently an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Internal Medicine and Pediatrics where he works as a hospitalist. He is an Associate Director of the Medical School's Center for the Art of Medicine, and his educational and research focus are on the intersection of art and medicine--focusing particularly on reflective writing and medical creative writing. His clinical interests include hospital medicine, medical education, and global health. He is a core-faculty member for the combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics residency program and serves as the faculty adviser for the Pediatric Global Health Track site at St. Damien Hospital in Port Au Prince, Haiti.

Summary
Angelica Willis recently joined the Departments of Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of Minnesota as a Med-Peds Hospitalist. She completed medical school and a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology at the University of Michigan. She then completed residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Outside of clinical work, she enjoys teaching medical students and residents, as well as health equity work.

Dr. Wyman is an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of Minnesota. She is a graduate of Northwestern University, the University of Minnesota Medical School, and completed residency training in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Wyman currently practices hospital medicine at the University of Minnesota for adults and pediatrics as well as at Fairview Ridges Hospital in Pediatrics. In addition to clinical duties, she is the Director for Resident Ultrasound Education for the U of MN Internal Medicine Residency Programs. Her additional interests include global health, health disparities, medical education, and medical ethics. In her free time Dr. Wyman practices martial arts and spends times with her family.
