The Pediatric Hospital Medicine Fellowship Program provides excellent training and experience in a broad range of skills necessary to the practice of Pediatric Hospital Medicine, while cultivating strong scholarly and leadership skills.  Fellows will be well-prepared to launch into leadership roles and academic careers within pediatric hospital medicine.

We care for hospital patients across the metro area at M Health Fairview Masonic Children's Hospital, Fairview Ridges Hospital, Maple Grove Hospital, and Shriners Hospital.

Research

We pursue a broad range of research and scholarly activities, including basic bench projects, translational and clinical research, quality improvement and patient safety projects. Our research also includes medical education/curricular development, hospital administration, and various areas of advocacy at the local or state levels.

Educational

Partner with AHC and other local programs to teach Pediatrics across our sites, with ongoing curriculum development. 

Lead in residency and medical student education. 

PHM fellowship growth. 

Participate in annual MN Hospital Medicine conferences. 

Lead in point of care ultrasound training. 

Improve diagnosis education.

Expand pain/palliative education for staff and learners.

Contribute to faculty development and to promote life-long learning.  

Academic

Participate in national, regional, and local conferences. 

Continue to grow our publications, posters, platforms, and invited lectures. 

Leadership

Hold admin/leadership roles at MHealth-Fairview, our respective hospitals, and our medical school. 

Drive quality and safety improvements, and drive standardization of care at our hospitals.

Drive cultural change at UMMCH. 

Be collegial and open with our learners and engender their confidence since we want to be their referral center of choice for advanced pediatric care.

Participate in and lead regional and national work groups, committees, and communities.
